Yashica Minitec AF Review

There was a period of time where I was frequenting my local thrift store, grabbing random film point & shoot cameras to try out.  I basically didn't want to shell out $300 for a Nikon 35Ti or Olympus Stylus Epic, so I figured trying a bunch of $5 cameras was better.

(this was a dumb idea. I've stopped doing this because...god dammit, I own Zeiss glass)

Of all the cameras I've tried, the Yashica Minitec is one of my favourites.

When I found this at the thrift store, my immediate thought was "this looks like a poor man's T3."  It's a plastic build, but still sports a 33mm f/3.5 lens.  Not a bad lens for sub $5 CAD.

The pictures that come out of it are decent.  

My biggest problem with this camera is it's very flash happy and there's no option to turn off automatic flash.  There were situations where I took this camera out on an overcast day, and the flash would still fire.  It's a pain when you want a certain look to a photo, but have no choice and have to live with the blown out flash look.
